The Problem

We were retained by a regional franchisor to advise and represent it in connection with a lawsuit filed against it by one of its former franchisees. The claim was for “rescission” of the franchise agreement pursuant to Ontario’s franchise-specific legislation.

Our Approach

We not only vigorously defended the franchise claim, but also assisted the client in updating and revising its franchise documentation, including its disclosure document and franchise agreement, so that the documentation complied with franchise laws.

The Result

The matter was settled out of court.
