What is constructive dismissal?

Employees are entitled to consistency in the terms and conditions of their employment, including pay and the duties associated with their position, as provided under the employment agreement. If an employer unilaterally and substantially alters the terms and conditions of employment, this may be defined as constructive dismissal. Employees who have been constructively dismissed may consider the employment relationship to be at an end and claim damages as though they have been wrongfully dismissed.
