Pratheeb is an associate lawyer in Lawrences’ Wills, Trusts, and Estates Group.
Pratheeb provides estate planning advice and assists clients with the preparation of their Wills, Powers of Attorney for Property and Personal Care and any related planning documents.
Pratheeb also works with executors and guides them on matters relating to the administration of a deceased person’s estate. He prepares probate applications and related documents when necessary. He also assists executors with various steps required to wind up an estate.
Pratheeb also provides guidance to Attorneys for Property and Attorneys for Personal Care on their duties and responsibilities when looking after an incapable family member’s financial or personal affairs.
He began his legal career in this area of law at a boutique law firm in Toronto before joining Lawrence’s.
- Guided an elderly couple to plan their estate and last wishes. Gave advice on how to structure the ownership of their assets and who to appoint beneficiaries on certain registered plans, with a view to minimizing probate tax when one or both of them die;
- Assisted a client who lost her parent at a young age. Provided guidance and education on matters to be dealt with and communicated with third parties on her behalf to advance matters relating to the collection of assets of the deceased parent;
- Gave advice to children of a client who suffered from advanced dementia on the scope of their authority under a Power of Attorney for Property to deal with the parent’s asset.
