Rinus is an associate in Lawrences’ Real Estate Group. His practice is focused on commercial/residential real estate and land development. He has extensive experience in the acquisition, financing and sale of mixed-use commercial and residential properties, as well as farm real estate purchases, sales, cottage transactions, family and estate conveyancing, and private mortgage financing.

Rinus also assists in the firm’s extensive condominium development and governance practice. He has guided interprovincial holding companies and individual owners purchasing properties in modular homes, land lease units, and condominium developments. He has represented clients before the Committee of Adjustment and the Ontario Municipal Board.

Rinus also represents landlords and tenants in the negotiation, drafting, interpretation and enforcement of commercial and industrial leases.  

Before joining Lawrences, Rinus practised Real Estate Law in a southwestern Ontario real estate law firm. He conducts seminars for first-time homebuyers, discussing ongoing changes in residential and commercial real estate.

Representative Work

  • Acted for private lenders of second mortgages to commercial and residential properties totaling $2 million in investment.
  • Drafted and negotiated the acquisition of 20+ furnished condominium rental properties in Ontario, secured with private financing from Nova Scotia holding companies.
  • Acted for the acquirer of a commercial shopping centre in Stratford, Ontario, with several large anchor tenants.
  • Decision No. 1593/11R, 2013 ONWSIAT 13–Administrative Law. Successful written submission appeal to allow injured worker a right to another hearing on the basis of documented errors in the judgement process.
  • John Gironda et al. v. Vito Gironda et al., 2013 ONSC 4133 – Estate Litigation. Assisted as co-counsel in an estate litigation trial to determine issues of testamentary capacity and undue influence, involving an elderly, brain-injured parent and four adult beneficiaries.
