Junaid is an associate in Lawrences’ Litigation Group. Before joining Lawrences, Junaid worked for a prominent international law firm in downtown Toronto. During his articling year, Junaid focused on civil litigation, drafted numerous pleadings, and refined his advocacy skills by attending motions, settlement conferences, and mediations.
During his time in the Faculty of Law at Queen’s University, Junaid took extra courses to sharpen his skills as a litigator and achieved academic excellence in Evidence Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Comparative Private International Law. Junaid also participated as an oralist for a moot tournament in his first and second years of law school. He advanced to the final rounds during his first-year moot tournament.
Junaid is also an avid writer and has co-authored legal papers published by the Toronto Lawyers Association. Junaid was also a section editor for his law school’s online legal newspaper.
Graves v. Correactology Health Care Group Inc., 2018 ONSC 4263: The Defendants brought a motion to stay proceedings commenced by the Plaintiffs, in favour of arbitration provisions in the agreements executed between the parties. Junaid was instrumental in drafting written submissions for the Plaintiffs. The Court decided with the Plaintiffs, dismissing the Defendants’ motion, despite the Court’s often deferential approach towards arbitration provisions.
