SIGNIFICANT CASES

The Issue: Libellous Website Attacking Client's Business

The Approach:
Immediately put defendant and service providers on notice.
Made urgent court application

The Result:
Obtained Mandatory Injunction within 24 hours, shutting down offensive website, all on the eve of the Defendant moving premises.

The Issue: Low Offer of Compensation From Expropriating Authority

The Approach:
Immediately visited the lands in question and formulated an action plan.
Retained pre-eminent experts in three disciplines.

The Result:
Recovered an amount 30 times the statutory offer, together with costs of $150,000.00. The case was reported in Dominion Law Reports.

The Issue: Coroners Inquest into a Suicide

The Approach: This was a high profile Coroners Inquest into a suicide from the Bloor Street Viaduct in Toronto. It attracted local and national T.V. and newspaper coverage.
On behalf of the Parent Council at the school, we first adopted strategies to shield and protect the deceased's classmates. We then advocated strongly for changes.

The Result:
Many of our recommendations, including suicide barriers on the viaduct, were adopted by the Coroners' Jury.
